How to Delete Recorded Videos from Your Prama DVR/NVR

Digital Video Recorders and Network Video Recorders (NVR) are essential components of any modern security system, providing a reliable way to store and review surveillance footage. As we all know, recording and saving data is an automatic process. However, managing storage effectively is crucial, and sometimes, this involves deleting old or unnecessary recordings. If you’re using a Prama DVR/NVR, here’s a step-by-step guide on deleting recorded videos.

Step 1: Log in to Your DVR/NVR

First, you’ll need to access your DVR/NVR interface. This can be done either through the connected monitor or via the web interface. Log in using your credentials being connected to the same web interface.

1. Monitor Login

Turn on your monitor, which is connected to the DVR/NVR.

Enter your username and password when prompted.

2. Web Interface Login

Open a web browser and enter the IP address of your DVR/NVR.

Log in with your credentials.

Step 2: Navigate to the Main Menu

Once logged in, you’ll need to access the main menu.

On the connected monitor, click the *Main Menu* button.

If using the web interface, look for the main menu or similar option in the interface or click on the three strips that appear on the upper right side of your monitor screen.

Step 3: Locate the Recorded Videos

Next, find the recorded videos you wish to delete.

Go to the *Playback* or *Search* menu. The exact name may vary depending on your DVR/NVR model.

Use the search options to filter videos by date, time, and camera channels.

Preview the videos to ensure you’ve selected the correct recordings you want to delete.

Step 4: Select the Videos for Deletion

After identifying the videos, you need to select them for deletion. Once you mark the videos by clicking on them or using checkboxes, ensure you have selected all the recordings you intend to delete.

Step 5: Delete the Videos

Now, proceed with the deletion process.

Click the *Delete* or *Erase* button in the interface or that you see on the web browser.

Confirm the deletion when prompted. Once you delete the video recordings, you won’t be able to see it again on the web interface.

Step 6: Manage Storage Settings

Review and adjust your storage settings to maintain continuous recording without manual intervention. You can set your NVR/DVR on auto recording. To learn more about auto-recording, click the link below.

Access the storage management or settings menu.

Configure the system to automatically overwrite old recordings or set retention policies according to your needs. These policies will help your device automatically overwrite the data that gets saved. They will delete the old data and video footage on their own to save more space.

Regularly managing your recorded videos is vital to ensure your Prama DVR/NVR operates efficiently and has enough storage for new footage. Following these steps, you can quickly delete unnecessary recordings and keep your security system running smoothly. If you encounter any difficulties or specific issues, don’t hesitate to consult the user manual or contact Prama customer support for further assistance.
