How to Record Audio with CCTV Cameras on a DVR

In today’s world of advanced security systems, the ability to record audio along with video is becoming increasingly important. Whether you’re monitoring a home, business, or public space, having audio recording capabilities can provide valuable context to video footage. If you’re using a DVR (Digital Video Recorder) to manage your CCTV (Closed Circuit Television) cameras and want to record audio, here’s a comprehensive guide to help you set it up.

Recording with a Local Monitor:

  1. Access DVR Menu

Use your monitor to access the DVR menu. Navigate to Configuration > Record > Parameters. You need to first login to your DVR login and change the access setting as per the need.

  • Set Stream Type

In the How do I set auto-recording in Prama NVR and DVR? (pramaindia.in) menu, locate the stream type setting. Set it to “Video & Audio” to enable audio recording.

  • Configure Recording Schedule

 Proceed to Record then Schedule the setting and the Advanced Parameters. Click the checkbox next to “Record Audio” to enable audio recording in the schedule.

Recording via Browser

You can also record the video footage using the browser or the Prama app. Download the app by clicking the below link

1.Access Web Interface

 Open a web browser and enter the IP address of your DVR to access its web interface. Navigate to Configuration and Video/Audio.

2.Set Video Type

In the Video/Audio settings, locate the video type setting and set it to “Video & Audio” to enable audio recording.

3.Configure Storage Settings

Navigate to Configuration then to the Storage option and then the schedule Settings. Click on “Advanced” and check the box next to “Record Audio” to include audio in your recording schedule.

Microphone Placement

Consider the quality of your audio recordings. Adjust microphone settings and placement to achieve the desired audio clarity.

Privacy Concerns

Be mindful of privacy issues when recording audio in public or private spaces. Inform individuals if they are being recorded in areas where privacy is expected.
